An ice-cream truck1 just went down my street.

That got me wondering why there isn’t the same sort of instant-gratification model for adult treats, like street food.  Yes, I know I can walk three blocks to get mashafasticulakos on a stick from the guy with the cart, but the same holds true for ice cream and kids around here.

Which is to say, if a van rolled slowly down my street with a bell ringing and a speaker blaring “Singapore noodles! Laughing Phoenix Red Curry! Gado gado!”, I would grab my wallet and run with all speed towards said van.

There’s a missed opportunity there, is all I’m saying.

  1. whereby “ice cream truck”, I mean “dirty pickup with industrial cooler strapped down in the bed”

Two words, bro: BEER TRUCK. I mean, they have them at festivals and outdoor concerts. What is stopping the people who own and operate them from sending them out into the neighborhoods on hot summer evenings? It would cut down on drinking and driving, after all (well, except for the dudes driving the beer trucks, I guess.) Ah, if only there was someone out there to fund my brilliant ideas…

I’m all for the beer and snack deliveries down Dorchester. Maybe the Still, the Winfield, Acme and Jines could all team up to have certain favorite items and bring them all on the truck. I would pay extra for this sort of convenience, obviously. It’s a great business venture. Maybe the Delgrosso’s need to buy said delivery truck. It could be a hit and run idea.
