Looking backwards

No one can master the past; one can only interrogate it.

Fashion sense

From the “If You Can’t Laugh At Yourself” file, I submit the following photograph:

Look at all the little losers

Look at all the little losers

The funny thing is, pretty much all of these clothes are somewhat in style again in one way or another. There are a couple of shirts in that photo that I wouldn’t mind having now.

If anyone can point out which of these little urchins is me, you win a prize.

Missed connection

You: a gorgeous Canon EF 50mm f/1.2 L USM.

Me: I stared at you while you sat in the display case.

I know you noticed me too, with your big glass eye. You’ve been used. I could tell. The minor scars on your skin told me that you’ve lived through a lot. But I can love you. Oh yes, I can take care of you. We can do beautiful things together.

Wait for me?

Broken glass

David Sedaris nails it on the “undecided voters”, in the New Yorker:

To put them in perspective, I think of being on an airplane. The flight attendant comes down the aisle with her food cart and, eventually, parks it beside my seat. “Can I interest you in the chicken?” she asks. “Or would you prefer the platter of shit with bits of broken glass in it?”

To be undecided in this election is to pause for a moment and then ask how the chicken is cooked.

I’d really like to meet some of these people, and then kick them right in the junk.

Getting strange

[There is] massive evidence found in the other frames of reference which points to the puzzling existence of the parahuman mimics of man who have always been engaged in mischievous—and sometimes malicious—shenanigans.
